Product Overview

Huawei Mate 30 is the base model of Huawei's late 2019 flagship Mate-series. Its Kirin 990 SoC offers industry-leading performance, while the Mate 30's tri-camera setup, faster charging capabilities, and gorgeous OLED display offer class-leading experience without the extra features that its more expensive stablemates offer.

techadvisor[1]

Reviewer score 70% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techadvisor have found:
The Huawei Mate 30 is a promising high-end device tainted by the US government's ongoing umbrage with Huawei and its products. It's one of the first phones running the latest Android 10 operating system, whilst also debuting the company's new EMUI 10 user experience on top. Like the Mate 30 Pro, the phone's camera array is surrounded by the series' new defining design element, the 'Halo Ring', which reflects light in a circular pattern around a triple camera arrangement.
Pros
  • Excellent performance
  • Excellent battery life
  • Excellent fast charging
Cons
  • No Google Play Services
  • No headphone jack

techradar[2]

Reviewer score 59% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The Huawei Mate 30 has a bigger screen than its Mate 30 Pro sibling. It's running the latest Android 10 software, with Huawei's own EMUI10 overlay. There's a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide snapper, a 40MP f-1.8 super-sensing wide camera, a 8MP f.4 telephoto lens and a focus-assist laser. The handset is also IP68 water and dust resistant.
Pros
  • Fantastic design
  • Decent battery life
Cons
  • No Google services
  • No 5G

trustedreviews[3]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
The Mate 30 runs on an open-source version of the latest Android 10 operating system, with Huawei’s EMUI 10 skin overlaid. There are none of the familiar Google apps usually pre-installed as standard due to the current ban in place from the US government. Taking pictures with the Mate 30 was a pleasure, with the camera providing very sharp snaps and a good colour balance across different lighting conditions. The three different lenses offer strong versatility depending on the type of pictures you like to take.
Pros
  • Great value for money
  • Great battery life
  • Great cameras
Cons
  • No Google apps
  • No 3.5mm headphone jack
