Bose Corporation is an American company that manufactures audio equipment. Established in 1964, it is best known for it home audio systems and speakers, noise-cancelling headphones, and automobile sound systems. The majority owner of Bose Corporation is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, donated by the founder Amar Bose.

Bose was founded in 1964 to develop multi-speaker systems aimed at the surrounding walls to reflect the sound and replicate the sound of a concert hall. The company's first product, the Bose 2201 hit the market in 1966 with an unusual design consisting of 22 speakers, many of which facing away from the listener. It was followed by the Bose 901, which had 8 mid-range drivers pointing away from the listener and 1 towards him/her.

In 1983, Bose audio was first installed in the Cadillac Seville. Since them, Bose has grown to be one of the largest OEM audio system supplier in the automotive industry.

In recent decades, Bose has gradually gone downmarket and has become a popular brand in consumer electronics.
