Lexus has revealed upgrades for the ES series sedan for the 2021 model year. These include an all-wheel drive option for ES 250, a limited-edition trim option for ES 350, Black Line Special Edition, and a longer list of standard equipment.

ES 250 AWD

For the first-time, Lexus ES series sedan is available with all-wheel drive, in response to consumer demands. The ES AWD offers increased traction that will prove valuable in snow and gravel.

The Dynamic Torque Control AWD system in the new ES 250 AWD provides effective traction for inclement weather while minimizing AWD's typical drag on performance and fuel economy. The system can direct up to 50% of engine torque to the rear wheels. When the condition does not require AWD, the electromagnetically-controlled coupling on the rear axle disengages the propeller shaft to prioritize fuel efficiency. It re-engages instantly when the need arises.
Lexus has added the AWD without reducing legroom, trunk room, ride comfort, cabin quietness, or vehicle agility. It is available also in F SPORT trim.

Limited to 1500 units, the Black Line Special Edition for the 2021 ES 350 is based on the F SPORT. It will be offered in three colors: Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0, Obsidian, and Ultra White. Inside, it shares the same two-tone interior with the F SPORT that features black and white coloring with gray stitching. As the name suggests, the ES 350 Black Line comes with more blacked-out parts, including black F SPORT wheels and a black rear lip spoiler.

2021 Feature Upgrade

Available on all ES models for 2021 is Lexus Enform Safety Connect (10-year trial included), Enform Remote (3-year trial), Lexus Enform Wi-Fi (4GB / 3-month trial), Lexus Enform Service Connect (10-year trial).
Similarly, all 2021 ES models feature Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 as standard equipment. The included Pre-Collision System (PCS) employs both a millimeter wave radar and a monocular camera sensor system designed to detect objects in both daytime and low-light situations.
