Product Overview

BMW M8 F92 is the high-performance variant of the G14 BMW 8 Series luxury coupe in production from 2019. It is available with two tunes of the BMW S63 bi-turbo hot-V8 engine that displaced 4.4 liters.
Compared to the base model, the M8 has a much more aggressive styling, though the difference in real-world driving between this car and the M850i is marginal.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the BMW M8 Coupe F92 comes with double-wishbone at the front and multi-link at the rear. This is a bit unusual for AWD and less tunable than a multi-link front setup, but what you lose in performance you gain in durability.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 54% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The M8 Coupé has a shorter wheelbase than the M5, sits 10mm lower and is firmly sprung to keep hold of its 1885kg. There’s a 38mm wider rear track and, underneath, subframes are more firmly attached to the shell. The M8, despite its girth, is more impressive during the faster stuff. It grips brilliantly, starts to slide and then has the security of four-wheel drive to pull it straight easily.
Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Lacks agility and poise

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 51% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The new BMW M8 Competition is a sports car of vast ability. In simple terms it's the fastest production car BMW has ever produced. It's also one of the brand's most sophisticated models thus far. The engine, though massively potent, feels like it belongs in a refined GT rather than an out-and-out sports car.
Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Impressive acceleration
  • Superb infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of refinement
  • Somewhat industrial

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 41% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The M8 Competition sits in the awkward middle area of the M range, right beside the oddball M4 convertible and its manual gearbox. It costs around £30,000 more than the discontinued 600bhp M6, but is a less compelling drive than the current M5 Competition which sells for circa-£25 grand less. While it is notably quicker than, say, the Aston Martin DB11 V8, it lacks that special sense of the occasion.
Pros
  • Powerful V8
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Fantastic infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of finesse on the road
  • Uncomfortable soft-top

carwow[4]

Reviewer score 90% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carwow have found:
The all-new BMW M8 is more like a T-Rex than a BMW M4. Up close it's larger, visibly heftier and much more intimidating. It's also significantly more powerful and – just like a Mercedes S63 Coupe – has a ravenous appetite. But is it worth the extra cash over the standard 8 Series?
Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • No Android Auto
  • Lacklustre infotainment system

cnet[5]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
The M8 Competition has very little chill, and that extends to fuel economy. The EPA rates the car at a paltry 15 miles per gallon city and 21 highway. Safety tech abounds, but you have to pay the piper. BMW's full complement of craftsmanship is on display.
Pros
  • Gorgeous interior
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Intuitive infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of tech
  • No Android Auto
