Product Overview

McLaren GT is a mid-size sports car in production from 2019. It is available with a bi-turbo V8 engine that displaced 4.0 liters.
Essentially a more "docile" version of the McLaren 720S, the McLaren GT has more luxury features and, as its name suggests, is more suitable for long journeys, where the 720S could tire the driver out.
Unfortunately, this car doesn't have the same level of elegance found in a Ferrari, which the car ostensibly seeks to compete against.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the McLaren GT comes with double-wishbone suspensions at all four corners.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
60% of the parts on this car are new, but it feels neither like a new kind of McLaren nor a new type of grand tourer. The engine is no quieter but uses sound-deadening material and exhaust tuning to sweeten its voice, yet it still sounds sharp and urgent. You can still carry enormous speed in the GT, and in the highly unlikely event you find yourself needing to replot a course mid-corner, you can rotate the car minutely.
Pros
  • Powerful V8
  • Comfortable ride
  • Excellent suspension
Cons
  • No Spider version
  • Lack of luggage space

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 88% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
McLaren GT's insurance group is 50 – the highest and therefore most expensive rating. You'll need the best part of £45,000 for a deposit and around £1,600 a month for the privilege. The GT is obviously a McLaren, but the styling is sleeker and more refined than the rest of the range. At 4,683mm long, the GT is the longest road-going McLaren to date.
Pros
  • Sleek looks
  • Powerful engines
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Fiddly infotainment
  • No Android Auto

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 97% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The GT makes 620ps, or 612bhp, from a 4.0-litre V8. At 1530kg, the GT is 111kg heavier than the 720S, but almost 350kg lighter than a V12 DB11. The steering might not communicate like a 720S and there’s a bit of understeer when you really push, but the feel is excellent thanks to hydraulic steering.
Pros
  • Powerful mid-range engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Impressive ride quality
Cons
  • Not as fast as 720S
  • More expensive than 720S

cnet[4]

Reviewer score 87% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
The McLaren GT is a superb sports car, but a grand tourer it is not. At $210,000, it's priced up against grandiose distance runners like the Aston Martin DB11 or Bentley Continental GT. You won't find cooled or massaging seats here, and don't even bother asking for driver-assistance features.
Pros
  • Gorgeous interior
  • Fantastic infotainment system
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Lack of driver-assistance features
  • Infotainment tech isn't great
