Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz EQB-Class X243 is a compact battery-electric crossover in production from 2021. It is powered by one or two electric motors aided by a battery capacity of 80kWh.
Essentially a BEV variant of the X247 GLB, the X243 is not optimized for EV duty.
Mercedes-Benz has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the Mercedes-Benz EQB uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 55%
Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
Top-end EQB 350 4Matic version is 288bhp and 383lb ft. Can hit 62mph in 6.0sec, but its range is rated at only 257 miles. Charging capacity is 100kW, whereas rivals now offer closer to 150kW. Interior is mostly plush and comfortable, if a little chintzy.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Excellent range
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of practicality
  • No third row seats

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 72%
Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
Both get an identical 370Nm of torque, meaning each feels alert and punchy from a standstill. 0-62mph takes 7.7 seconds in the 300, cut to six seconds dead in the more powerful model. Overtaking is no trouble in either car, with instant acceleration right up to motorway speeds. Handling is best described as safe and secure rather than particularly fun or engaging.

Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Excellent handling
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Expensive for what you get
  • Alternatives are more fun to drive

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 73%
Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
There will be two variants from launch – the 300 and the 350, producing 225bhp and 288bhp respectively. A single-motor option will arrive later, providing less performance but a longer range. The EQB 350 we drove will do 0-62mph in 6.2 seconds, and though top speed is limited to just 99mph it’s very comfortable accelerating up to and holding motorway speeds.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good range
  • Comfortable third-row seats
Cons
  • No seven-seater option
