Product Overview

Alpina B5 G30 is a high-performance executive sedan in production from 2017. It is available with two tunes of a bi-turbocharged BMW N63 V8 engine that displaced 4.4 liters. ZF 8HP automatic transmission and AWD are standard.
Unfortunately, just like the G12 B7 with the same underlying powertrain, the G30 B5 isn't exceptional in terms of reliability. It has a somewhat sophisticated suspension setup, but they are oriented towards comfort rather than handling.

Reviewers from autocar have found:
Fewer than 100 of these F90-generation B5 BiTurbos are expected to see the light of day. A Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4Matic has a more overt character, if that’s your kind of thing. The playful new M5 has better body control with a front end that brings new meaning to the words ‘nailed on’ in this segment.
Pros
  • Superb ride quality
  • Excellent handling
  • Impressive handling
Cons
  • Not the most fun to drive

carmagazine[2]

Reviewer score 91% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
Like an AMG V8 the B5's strong, smooth low-rev drive gives way to a soaring top-end. Alpina claims 600bhp, 590lb ft and 0-62mph in 3.5sec. The agility and precision are at once familiar from the base 5-series and yet altogether more convincing here, as they should be given the price difference.
Pros
  • Powerful V8 engine
  • Fantastic all-wheel drive
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Lacklustre infotainment system
