Mercedes-Benz SL R230 facelift 2 is a flagship mid-size luxury convertible in production from 2008 to 2011. It was available with a range of V6, V8, and V12 engines that displaced 3.0 to 6.2 liters.
Compared to the first facelift, the second facelift was more extensive, giving the R230 SL-Class a new exterior styling and interior refresh. Powertrain-wise, Mercedes doubled-down on the M272 / M273 V6 and V8 engines. While they are supposed to have been improved during the interim, these engines are still not known for durability.
Mercedes also did away with the M113K-powered SL55 AMG. In its stead, the new M156-powered 6.2L SL63 AMG became one of the most iconic AMGs that also happens to be one of the least reliable.
Only the V12s remained the same and are exceptional.
