Product Overview

Ferrari 488 Spider (Type F142M) is a high-performance mid-size convertible sports car in production from 2015 to 2019. It was powered by two tunes of Ferrari's new F154 bi-turbocharged V8 engine that displaced 3.9 liters paired to a 7-speed DCT.
Ostensibly an evolution (modificata) of the 458 Spider, the 488 stands out with its new forced induction engine. Unfortunately, this means that the high-pitched noise that previous Ferraris made were gone. Instead, the 488 Spider offers tremendous amount of torque and power, in all likelihood too much for its own good.

Reviewer score 100% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The 458's naturally aspirated engine provided all the power you'd ever need. The 488 Spider then, with another 99bhp and an even more impactful 163lb ft, for a swollen 561lb ft total. You spend all the time short-shifting and on part-throttle because there's never the space (and in the wet, the traction) to take all that torque. The brakes bite a little too sharply at the top of the travel around town.
Pros
  • Fantastic turbocharged engine
  • Punchy acceleration
  • Excellent handling
Cons
  • Fiddly infotainment system
  • Lack of aural range
