Product Overview

Jaguar XK Convertible (chassis code X100) is a premium mid-size convertible in production from 1996 to 2005. It was available with two V8 engines that displaced 4.0 to 4.2 liters. Prior to 2002, the XKR used Mercedes 5G-Tronic automatic transmission, while the standard XK8 used ZF's 5HP24, which is disastrously unreliable. Both moved to ZF 6HP26 in 2002.
Compared to the coupe version of the XK, the convertible has similar performance and feel. Some will prefer one over the other. The fact that it uses a soft top only makes the profile classier whether the top is up or down. However, the tradeoff is less practicality compared to a hardtop.
