Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe C217 facelift is a flagship full-size luxury coupe in production from 2017 to 2020. It was available with a range of V6, V8, and V12 engines that displaced 3.0 to 6.0 liters.
Compared to the pre-facelift C217, the facelift saw the early demise of the M279 V12, thanks to EU's anti-car regulations. The V8 engines were thoroughly updated, too, as the smaller M177 engine replaced the M278. Like all hot-V engines, we can expect it to be much less durable and much less reliable in the long run, again thanks to EU's anti-car policies.
Cosmetically, Mercedes added a range of ugly grilles and styling elements that made the car no only generic but also less attractive.

Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
This twin-turbo motor is a thing of sheer beauty. The way this car accelerates from 81mph right the way around to its 155mph V-max feels akin to a Golf R going from 30-100mph. As a huge, four-seater GT the Coupe perhaps isn't meant to corner like a Ferrari, but its sheer heft is impossible to mask.
Pros
  • Powerful twin-turbo V12
  • Fantastic infotainment tech
Cons
  • MCT gearbox can't keep up with the pace
  • Not the most fun to drive
