Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz CL-Class C216 is a flagship full-size luxury coupe in production from 2006 to 2010, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of V8 and V12 engines that displaced 5.5 to 6.2 liters.
Compared to the C215 CL that preceded it, the C216 has a drastically different exterior design. Some like it for being more imposing, while others lament the loss of elegance from the C215.
Mercedes kept the V12 drivetrains essentially untouched. The V8s, however, received an overhaul: gone was the M113-based SOHC engines; in their stead, Mercedes introduced a 5.5L M273 for the CL500 / CL550 and a 6.2L M156 (marketed as 6.3L) for the CL63 AMG. Ironically, the V12s are generally more reliable in this iteration, as the M273 suffered from timing gear wear issue and the M156 broken head bolts.
Mercedes-Benz has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.27 coefficient of drag to show for it. Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the Mercedes CL C216 comes with multi-link suspensions at all four corners.
The same ABC problems remained, though rumor has it that Mercedes improved the system.
