Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz CL-Class C215 is a flagship full-size luxury coupe in production from 1999 to 2002, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of V8 and V12 engines that displaced 5.0 to 6.3 liters.
Based on the W220 S-Class, the C215 CL is exceptionally elegant. However, its powertrains have a split character in reliability terms: The M113 V8s are arguably the most reliable modern Mercedes engine, while the M137 V12s are possibly the least reliable one. Still, the few V12 CL63 AMGs made are the rarest of all AMG vehicles.
Another Achille's heel of the C215 is the ABC active hydraulic suspension. Fortunately, aftermarket suppliers have made coilover conversions widely available.
Mercedes-Benz has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the Mercedes-Benz CL comes with multi-link suspensions at all four corners. Combined with ABC, the car has some of the best combination of comfort and handling.
