Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Black Series is a subcompact sports car based on the R171 Mercedes SLK-Class in production from 2006 to 2008. Whereas the R171 SLK is a subcompact roadster, the SLK 55 AMG Black Series is purely a coupe. Mercedes also used the "Black Series" concept with the SL 65 AMG Black Series, which is also a coupe based on a roadster.
Compared to the standard SLK 55 AMG, the Black Series has a higher engine output. The majority of the upgrades, however, are in the styling, with more extensive use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP).
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the Mercedes-Benz SLK uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.
