Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz GL-Class X164 is a full-size crossover in production from 2006 to 2009, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of V6 and V8 engines that displaced 3.0 to 5.5 liters.
Essentially a larger W164 ML-Class, the X164 came with a smaller set of engine options. Notably, Mercedes didn't make an AMG version. Nevertheless, the GL was intended to be the company's flagship crossover in North America (marketed as SUV, as the G-Class was not available there).
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, need to think twice before pulling the trigger: the Mercedes GL X164 is hardly the "offroader" that Mercedes-Benz would like you to think. Owners may find that at speed the vehicle consumes a lot more than the numbers indicate, thanks to a disappointing 0.37 coefficient of drag to show for it. Utility-minded owners will love the 2300L (81cu-ft) cargo space. The vehicle also comes with a high towing capacity.
