Product Overview

Volkswagen Atlas is a large crossover in production from 2017 to 2020, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4 and VR6 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.6 liters.
Compared to the smaller Touareg, the VW Atlas was meant primarily for the North American and Chinese markets, where consumers appreciate large vehicles. Unfortunately, however, VW omitted larger, more powerful engines, with the VR6 being the more interesting option.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the Volkswagen Atlas comes with double-wishbone + multi-link suspensions. This provides the best cornering performance and tunability, at the expense of cost and a little bit of durability.

Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is the standard power plant for the Atlas S and SE. The optional engine upgrade is a 3.6-liter V6 that steps up to 276 hp and 266 lb-ft. The base engine is good for 22 combined miles per gallon (20 city and 26 highway)
Pros
  • Sleek, spacious interior
  • Comfortable ride
  • Lots of standard equipment
Cons
  • No surround-view camera
  • No infotainment

digitaltrends[2]

Reviewer score 51% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
With so much black everywhere, the interior feels a bit unimaginative, but this is a Volkswagen and interiors are not their forte. Where the Atlas scores quite well is in drivability. Using sport mode, the steering gets noticeably tighter, and while the pick-up-and-go of the Atlas leaves a little bit to be desired, it makes it feel a little more car-like in its handling.
Pros
  • Comfortable ride
  • Good standard safety package
  • Comfortable interior
Cons
  • Lack of in-dash navigation
  • No Android Auto or CarPlay
