Product Overview

Alpina B5 Touring G31 is a high-performance executive station wagon in production since 2017. It is powered by a modified 4.4L bi-turbocharged BMW N63B44TU2 engine. The vehicle is based on the G31 BMW 540i xDrive.
Since BMW didn't introduce a new V8 engine for the G31 BMW 5 Series and hasn't done so for over a decade, the G31 B5 Touring has roughly the same engine as the LCI F11 B5 Touring. The most important difference is the inclusion of xDrive AWD. Naturally, the interior and technologies were updated, too.
Hence, for those who want just an elegant, high-performance super wagon, the LCI F11 B5 Touring may be a superior option.

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The Alpina B5 Touring is fitted with a retuned version of the M550i donor car, now by air at the rear axle for the Touring. On anything larger than a narrow B-road, you’ll carry 30mph more than intended, such is the reassuring fluidity of this chassis. There’s body control to spare, thanks in part to the presence of active roll stabilisation. In-gear performance is as unassuming as it is prodigious.
Pros
  • Class-leading handling
  • Powerful turbocharged engine
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Rear-biased brake balance isn’t the best
