Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz R-Class W251 facelift is a full-size minivan in production from 2010 to 2014. It was available with a range of V6 and V8 engines that displaced 3.0 to 5.5 liters.
Compared to the pre-facelift W251, this facelift involved mostly cosmetic changes to the front and rear fascia. Another main update is the introduction of a new 5.5L V8 engine in the R 500 model (M273), which replaced the venerable M113 motor.
Like the pre-facelift model, the R-Class suffered from being a half-way house between a minivan and a station wagon: It lacked the elegance of the latter and the utility of the former. As a result, sales were disappointing, and Mercedes had to discontinue the model line entirely after only one generation. It did not bother to do an AMG model for the facelift.
