Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz CLS X218 Shooting Brake is an executive station wagon in production from 2012 to 2014, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of V8, V6, and inline-4 engines that displaced 2.1 to 5.5 liters.
Based on the C218 CLS-Class, the X218 Shooting Brake is supposed to be a more premium alternative to the E-Class Wagon. However, while Mercedes did make the vehicle appear more premium on the outside, it did economize on the chassis and suspensions. Notably, the X218 uses MacPherson strut front suspensions, even though this vehicle can cost as much as an S-Class sedan.
Still, the X218 CLS Shooting Brake is not an unattractive car by any means: It has a narrower selection of engines, and all are paired to a 7-speed 7G-Tronic automatic transmissions, which at this point has received two revisions and are much more reliable than at its initial release a decade ago.
Mercedes-Benz has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it.
