Product Overview

Jaguar XJ X308 is a full-size luxury sedan in production from 1997 to 2003. It was available with a range of V8 engines that displaced 3.2 to 4.0 liters.
The X308 Jaguar XJ is exceptionally beautiful. Compared to the X300 that preceded it and the X350 that followed, the X308 had a unique blend of elegance and sportiness that no other full-size sedan, not even the mighty BMW E38, could match.
For this vehicle, Jaguar equipped three versions of its AJ-V8 engine, one 3.2L and two 4.0L. The most impressive was the supercharged 4.0L XJR, which, when it came on the market, had no rivals from Mercedes or BMW.
The NA models used ZF 5HP24 5-speed automatic transmission, while the XJR used Mercedes 5G-Tronic. The former has a weak clutch A drum that led to frequent failures, while the latter has proven to be one of the best automatic transmissions to have come out of Germany.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the XJ X308 comes with double-wishbone suspensions at all four corners. This provides the good cornering performance and durability, though multi-link tends to be more tunable.
