Product Overview

Acura RLX (chassis code KC1/KC2) is an executive sedan in production from 2012 to 2020. It was available with a single V6 engine that displaced 3.5 liters in two drivetrain configurations.
The base model is FWD-only. It used a 6-speed automatic transmission from up to the 2017 model year and a 10-speed automatic from the 2018 model year up.
The AWD model paired the 3.5L V6 engine to a 7-speed DCT transmission. It had a hybrid AWD system without a propeller shaft going to the rear axles; instead, AWD is achieved with the help of electric motors mounted in the back. Even though this was a complete departure from the old SH-AWD system, Acura kept the marketing term and continued to call it SH-AWD.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the Acura RLX comes with double-wishbone and multi-link suspensions. While unusual for a FWD vehicle, this setup offers superior handling characteristics than a normal strut setup.
The RLX had a facelift for the 2018 model year, though the mechanicals did not change. The new front-end bears Acura's new "corporate grille" that is more athletic.
