Product Overview

Lexus LS Mark IV (chassis code XF40 for SWB, XF41 for LWB) is a full-size luxury sedan in production from 2006 to 2010, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of V8 engines that displaced 4.6 to 5.0 liters.
In order to promote hybrid vehicles, Lexus introduced the LS 600h as the industry's first hybrid flagship. Unlike subsequent hybrids from competitors, however, the LS 600h used a generous 5.0L naturally-aspirated 2UR-FSE V8 engine that made 394hp on its own. With Toyota's proprietary e-CVT, this powertrain drives all four wheels. As such, the LS 600h was not really that much more fuel efficient than the LS 460, though it certainly was a lot smoother, arguably the best in its class.
Most enthusiasts, however, will likely prefer the LS 460, which paired 1UR-FSE direct-injection naturally-aspirated V8 to a robust 8-speed automatic transmission. With this, RWD is standard, while AWD is optional. Interestingly, the LS 460 AWD had different chassis codes (XF45 for SWB and XF46 for LWB).
Another first in Lexus history is the optional LWB chassis.
Lexus has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.26 coefficient of drag to show for it.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the LS Mark IV comes with multi-link suspensions at all four corners. This provides the best cornering performance and tunability, at the expense of cost and a little bit of durability.
