Product Overview

Toyota Prius XW10 (code NHW11) is an affordable subcompact sedan in production from 2000 to 2003. It was the first commercially successful hybrid vehicle to be available outside the Japanese domestic market. The NHW11 Prius had a 1.5L Atkinson-cycle inline-4 engine.
The hybrid drivetrain can help the owner save on fuel and car tax, though today's regulators seems to prefer the more complex PHEV instead.
On the one hand, the original Prius was a breakthrough, delivering great real-world fuel economy and proven durability (thanks to the e-CVT transaxle, which is indeed simpler than almost every other transmission ever conceived). On the other hand, it opened a dark page on the automotive industry.
