Product Overview

BMW 7 Series E65 is a flagship full-size luxury sedan in production from 2001 to 2005, whereupon it received a facelift. The long-wheelbase version of the E65 had the E66 model code. The E65 / E66 was available with a range of I6, V8, and V12 engines that displaced 3.0 to 6.0 liters.
The most interesting option was undoubtedly the N73 V12 found in the 760i / 760Li. It featured double-VANOS (variable valve timing) and valvetronic (variable valve lift), and was the most advanced naturally-aspirated V12 that BMW ever made.
Two other interesting options are the N52 NA petrol and M57 turbo diesel inline-6s. Both are reliable and well-balanced. They are also easy to DIY on.
The M67 V8 diesel was also interesting, though it was not a really reliable option.
BMW has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. While many questioned the styling of the E65, many others find it to be an elegant design.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the E65 used MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.
