Product Overview

Canon PowerShot G5 X Mark II is a high-end 1″ compact camera. Introduced by Canon in 2019, it comes with a 1" sensor with 20 MP (5472 x 3648) resolution and a 2.36 million-dot EVF.
The camera has a poor battery life, and a second or third battery may be needed to get you through the day. Professionals and fanboys will be pleased by the extraordinary 30.0 fps burst rate that this camera can deliver.
Last but not least, the camera can focus quite close to the subject.

External Reviews

pcmag[1]

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 zoom that Sony uses in its RX100 VA, RX100 IV, and RX100 III cameras is a bit sharper. It's quick and responsive and includes both a touch screen and EVF. The G5 X Mark II does a better job balancing form, function, and price.
Pros
  • Excellent zoom range
  • Excellent pop-up viewfinder
  • Great ergonomics
Cons
  • No touch screen
  • No EV adjustment

rtings[2]

Reviewer score 50% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
Canon PowerShot G5 X Mark II is good for travel photography. It has a fairly wide shutter speed range that lets you capture both quick moments as well as long-exposure shots. Its lens' built-in ND filter gives you a bit of extra leeway in adjusting aperture or shutter speed in bright environments.
Pros
  • Compact, lightweight design
  • Good image quality out-of-the-box
  • Decently rapid max shutter speed in 4k and FHD
  • Comfortable to hold
  • Great photo quality out of the box
Cons
  • Poor autofocus performance
  • Lacks a microphone jack to bolster the audio in your recording

techradar[3]

Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
Canon Powershot G5 X Mark II is a radical departure from the G5. It's slimmed down, concealed its viewfinder and gained some useful new tech on the inside. New processor allows for everything from 30fps raw shooting to 4K video. Build quality is generally very good, and handling is just as impressive when you consider just how petite the camera is.
Pros
  • Excellent build quality
  • Good image quality
  • Very good battery life
Cons
  • Lack of autofocus
  • No LCD screen
