Product Overview

Sony RX100 V is a 1″ compact camera. Introduced by Sony in 2016, it comes with a 1" sensor with 20 MP (5472 x 3648) resolution and a 2.36 million-dot EVF.
The camera has a poor battery life, and a second or third battery may be needed to get you through the day. One should note that the DSC-RX100 V has a 125 base ISO, which is not conducive to getting the cleanest images. Professionals and fanboys will be pleased by the extraordinary 24.0 fps burst rate that this camera can deliver.
The RX100 V comes with 315 autofocus points. Last but not least, the camera can focus quite close to the subject.
In 2018, Sony refreshed the RX100 V with some firmware update and a newer processor as the RX100 VA.

The lens is at its best at f/4, where it scores an outstanding 2,938 lines. There's a little bit of resolution loss at 70mm f/2.8, a result that's toward the bottom end of what we consider good. Video options are very good, but there's no microphone input.

  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No autofocus
