Product Overview

Nikon D3400 is an affordable DSLR camera in the Nikon F-mount system. Introduced by Nikon in 2016, it comes with an APS-C sensor with 24 MP (6000 x 4000) resolution.
The camera has an excellent battery life, and you may just get away without a second battery. The D3400's 5.0 fps burst rate limits its use for certain types of photography, but it is hardly something that most photographers should worry about.
The Nikon D3400 comes with 11 autofocus points.

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Nikon D3400 is an update to Nikon's entry-level DSLR, replacing the two year old D3300. The headline new feature is SnapBridge - Nikon's low-power Bluetooth connection that allows continuous image transfer to your smartphone in the background while you shoot. Battery life has been boosted to an impressive 1200 shots on a full charge and the kit lens has also been updated with quicker and quieter continuous AF for movies.
Pros
  • Fast continuous shooting
  • Full range of PASM exposure modes
  • Good battery life
  • Low-power Bluetooth connection
Cons
  • No autofocus
  • No auto exposure bracketing

techradar[2]

Reviewer score 68% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The D3400 has an APS-C sensor, which is smaller than those inside the latter three models. This sensor works over a reasonably wide sensitivity range of ISO100-25,600. The camera's 11-point AF system features a single cross-type point in the centre of its array. Wi-Fi hasn't been included inside the body, although wireless image transmission is still possible.
Pros
  • Excellent image quality
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Lack of built-in sensor cleaning
  • No 4K video
