Product Overview

Nikon D850 is a high-end DSLR camera in the Nikon F-mount system. Introduced by Nikon in 2017, it comes with a full-frame sensor with 45 MP (8256 x 5504) resolution.
The camera has an excellent battery life, and you may just get away without a second battery. It should be noted for having a 64 base ISO, which promises cleaner shots. The D850's 7.0 fps burst rate limits its use for certain types of photography, but it is hardly something that most photographers should worry about.
The Nikon D850 comes with 151 autofocus points.

External Reviews

cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Nikon D850 is Nikon’s highest resolution DSLR to date. It boasts a new 45.7 Megapixel full-frame sensor, and fast burst shooting at 7fps, boost-able to 9fps with the optional battery grip. Movie shooters will also appreciate the presence of un-cropped 4k as well as a tilting touch-screen. Nikon continues to lack embedded phase-detect AF on its DSLRs, so video and live view AF lacks confidence of Canon and Sony.
Pros
  • Excellent image quality
  • Fast burst shooting at 7fps
  • Tilting touch-screen
Cons
  • Below-par movie autofocus and average Wifi
  • SnapBridge lacks the speed and flexibility demanded by pros

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitalpicture have found:
The MB-D18 price is not crazy, but the cost of the other optional components adds up. Still, I found all of the parts worth acquiring. A camera can produce images with no better quality than the lens mounted to it. Don't let your lens be the minimum factor to your image quality.
Pros
  • Excellent image quality
  • Excellent autofocus
  • Excellent battery life
  • Fast frame rate
Cons
  • Lack of features

t3[3]

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from t3 have found:
The D850 uses the same Multi-CAM 20K AF module as the top-end D5. The system sports 153 AF points, with 55 of those user-selectable and 99 points the more sensitive cross-type points for even greater precision. The AF is paired with a burst shooting speed of 7fps – not quite a match for the 10fps of the Z7 II. Battery life is impressive, using Nikon's EN-EL15 battery, the D850 delivers an incredibly impressive 1,840-shots.
Pros
  • Fast, precise AF
  • Excellent image quality
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • Clunky focusing
  • No EyeAF
