For both movies and stills it’s well worth spending a little extra for the stabilised EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 IS II. The camera lacks continuous autofocus in movie mode, so you need to half press the shutter to focus before recording.

However, it's somewhat bulky and not especially comfortable to use for extended periods. It also feels quite plasticky and, depending on your usage patterns, has short battery life.
