Product Overview

Canon EOS Rebel SL3 (EOS 250D / EOS Kiss X10) is an entry-level DSLR camera in the Canon EF-mount system. Introduced by Canon in 2019, it comes with an APS-C sensor with 24 MP (6000 x 4000) resolution.
The camera has an excellent battery life, and you may just get away without a second battery. The Rebel SL3's 5.0 fps burst rate limits its use for certain types of photography, but it is hardly something that most photographers should worry about.
The EOS Rebel SL3 comes with a fully articulated touch display and 9 autofocus points.

cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Canon EOS 250D / Rebel SL3 is a compact and affordable DSLR aimed at first-time buyers. It offers a traditional DSLR optical viewfinder and a thoroughly modern live view experience with a fully-articulated touchscreen. In use, the 24 Megapixel sensor delivers good quality photos and 1080p video, the latter enjoying Canon’s confident Dual Pixel Autofocus. Combined with the flip-screen and microphone input you’ve got an ideal camera for vloggers.
Pros
  • Fully-articulated touchscreen
  • Dual Pixel Autofocus
  • 1080p video
Cons
  • No high-speed video for slow motion
  • No 4k at 24p

digitalpicture[2]

Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitalpicture have found:
The Rebel SL3 is a great choice for capturing family moments, for travel, for hiking and even as a compact backup or second camera to a higher-end model. While the Rebel T7i is the overall better option, it awaits a model refresh to gain some solid SL3 feature advantages including 4k video. If you can get past that last bullet, I recommend getting the SL3.
Pros
  • Easy-to-use autofocus
  • Excellent image quality
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • No 4k video

digitaltrends[3]

Reviewer score 53% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The Rebel SL3 is an enjoyable camera to use, but with so many excellent mirrorless cameras to choose from today, it's difficult to recommend. It's capable and priced fairly; I just don't think it's the right choice for most photographers. If you're attracted the SL3's feature set, especially Creative Assist or Dual Pixel Autofocus, then consider the EOS M50.
Pros
  • Excellent battery life
  • Excellent image quality
  • Comfortable to carry
Cons
  • Can’t use the viewfinder in live view mode

dpreview[4]

Reviewer score 64% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from dpreview have found:
Canon EOS Rebel SL3 has a 24MP APS-C sensor and easy-to-use Dual Pixel autofocus. It has one of the best beginner-friendly guide modes we've seen on a camera. It's also fun to use, comfortable to hold, and has insane battery life, provided you use the optical viewfinder.
Pros
  • Superb image quality
  • Excellent battery life
  • Easy-to-use Dual Pixel autofocus
Cons
  • Not as compact as the EOS M50
  • No optical viewfinder

pcmag[5]

Reviewer score 63% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
Canon EOS Rebel SL3 doesn't offer up any surprises when it comes to image quality. The SL3 supports 4K video capture, but as with the EOS M50, it comes with caveats. If you're in the market for a small SLR, without a huge investment in lenses, think about going mirrorless instead.
Pros
  • Fast autofocus
  • Good image quality
  • 4K video capture
Cons
  • Lacks in-body image stabilization
  • Heavy crop at 4K

rtings[6]

Reviewer score 26% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The Canon SL3 is okay for sports and wildlife photography. It has a relatively high maximum shutter speed and has decently sharp image quality. It performs best in FHD, with decent video quality and superb autofocus performance. It isn't the best choice for recording in 4k due to its terrible face tracking and poor image stabilization.
Pros
  • Comfortable ergonomic design
  • Decently sharp image quality
  • Good autofocus performance in FHD
Cons
  • Poor battery performance
  • Mediocre video quality in 4k

techradar[7]

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
Canon's EOS Rebel SL3 is the latest model to be fitted with a 24MP APS-C sensor. This is believed to be the same sensor that starred in the previous Rebel SL2. It arrives with a similar Dual Pixel CMOS AF system built into it. This system uses pixels in the sensor to perform phase-detect AF, which is the way DSLRs normally focus when you use the viewfinder.
Pros
  • 24MP APS-C sensor
  • Easy to use
  • 4K video capture
Cons
  • No NFC
  • No 4K video recording

tomsguide[8]

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The Canon ELS Rebel SL3 is one of the first budget DSLRs that can shoot video in 4K. Unlike the SL2's flash, the SL3's flash must be manually opened. Battery life is great at 1,550 shots-per-charge, and beginners will make good use of its built-in help system.
Pros
  • Excellent image quality
  • Built-in touchscreen
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No 4K video
  • No manual flash
