Product Overview

Tamron 16-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro is an all-in-one zoom lens for Canon EF-mount, Nikon F-mount, and Sony A-mount. It covers the APS-C image circle. Introduced by Tamron in 2014, it has 16 elements in 12 groups.
Like most zoom lenses, the Tamron 16-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro is externally-zooming. Fortunately, Tamron has provided a zoom lock that at least stops zoom creep. For incremental weathers, Tamron is kind enough to include weather sealing.
An all-in-one zoom lens, the Tamron 16-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro trades some performance for versatility, though the most discerning photographers may find the image quality hardly satisfactory. The lens is also stabilized, making it even easier to use.

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from dpreview have found:
Tamron 16-300mm F3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD Macro is a new version of the company's famous superzoom concept. Focal length has been increased from 18mm to 16mm, bringing serious wide-angle capability to the category for the first time. Closest focusing distance has been reduced to earn the 'Macro' designation (even if it's hardly macro in the true sense of allowing 1:1 reproduction)
Pros
  • Superb wide-angle performance
  • Very good build quality
  • Excellent telephoto performance
Cons
  • No macro mode
  • No telephoto zoom
