Product Overview

Canon EF 16-35mm F2.8L III USM is a wide-angle zoom lens for Canon EF-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Canon in 2016, it has 16 elements in 11 groups.
Photographers will be pleased by the fact that the lens is internally-zooming, meaning that the barrel does not extend when the focal length is changed. This helps balance and weather sealing; it is also great for long-term durability, as there is less chance for moisture and dirt to get in. For incremental weathers, Canon is kind enough to include weather sealing.
The f/2.8 maximum aperture is quite bright for a wide-angle zoom lens and can be quite valuable for night photography, though an ultra wide-angle lens may prove more interesting. It can also be quite interesting for landscape and general photography. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.

Reviewers from dpreview have found:
The Canon 16-35mm F2.8L II has been one of the most coveted lenses amongst landscape photographers for a fairly long time. The Mark II was a fantastic piece of glass, but struggled in terms of corner sharpness and control of chromatic aberration along the edges and in the corners of the frame. The upgraded version of the Canon lens promised to correct a number of those issues.
Pros
  • Sharpness and control of chromatic aberration
  • Excellent build quality
Cons
  • No APS-C option
