Sony Vario-Sonnar T* 16-35mm F2.8 ZA SSM II is a wide-angle zoom lens for Sony A-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Sony in 2015, it has 17 elements in 13 groups.
Like most zoom lenses, the Sony Vario-Sonnar T* 16-35mm F2.8 ZA SSM II is externally-zooming. For incremental weathers, Sony is kind enough to include weather sealing.
The f/2.8 maximum aperture is quite bright for a wide-angle zoom lens and can be quite valuable for night photography, though an ultra wide-angle lens may prove more interesting. It can also be quite interesting for landscape and general photography. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.
