    digitaltrends[1]

Reviewer score 50% (normalized by Neofiliac)
    Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
At $600, the TCL 5-Series is a good value, with good picture performance and a mostly friendly Roku TV experience. Its out-of-box picture performance leaves something to be desired, and it can be difficult to optimize the picture settings. Once it is adjusted, however, it can offer slightly better-than-average picture quality.
    Pros
    • Good picture quality
    • Dolby Vision
    • Good contrast
    Cons
    • Out-of-box picture is a little underwhelming
    • No local dimming

The TCL S525 is a good TV for most uses. It has excellent contrast and good black uniformity, important for watching movies in a dark room. It upscales 1080p content well, with no noticeable issues, great if you haven't upgraded to a 4k game console. This is a great TV for gaming in HDR, mainly due to the great gaming performance.
    Pros
    • Outstanding low input lag
    • Great response time
    • Excellent contrast ratio and great black uniformity
    • Good peak brightness
    Cons
    • Image degrades at an angle
    • No local dimming feature
