Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The RU8000 isn't particularly bright as an LED-backlit LCD. It shows very good contrast with a 0.04cd/m2 black level for a 9,153:1 contrast ratio. Nearly every color, including white, is spot-on, with only green running a bit undersaturated.
Pros
  • Accurate colors and strong contrast
  • Solid build quality
  • Supports HDR10+ and Hybrid Log Gamma
Cons
  • Low brightness
  • No Dolby Vision

rtings[2]

Reviewer score 27% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The Samsung RU8000 a decent TV for mixed usage. It can get fairly bright, but it's more suited to a moderately-lit room. It displays deep blacks that look good in the dark, ideal for watching movies. It has a fast response time that makes motion look clear in fast content like sports or video games.
Pros
  • High native contrast ratio
  • Good black uniformity
  • Fast response time
  • Low input lag
Cons
  • Poor viewing angles
  • Doesn't get bright enough to make highlights pop as they should
  • No local dimming

techradar[3]

Reviewer score 55% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The RU8000's native 4K pictures look exceptionally sharp and detailed. Its HDR is inevitably limited in scope, but within those limitations it manages to deliver a well-rounded and engaging HDR experience. The RU8000 is about average on the audio front. On the upside its sound is pretty clean and detailed, and doesn't sound excessively brittle during loud action scenes.
Pros
  • Impressive 4K/HDR picture quality
  • Decent audio performance
Cons
  • Loud bass
  • No local dimming
