Product Overview

MSI Optix G27C4 is a mainstream 27-inch FHD 1500R-curved gaming monitor in MSI's 2019 lineup. It is powered by a basic 8-bit VA panel.
Its 1500R curvature provides a more immersive visual experience. In terms of color reproduction, one can expect above average performance. With a fast 1 ms response time, this display is a good gaming option. Additionally, this monitor can get quite contrasty.
In terms of drawbacks, this monitor lacks HDR support, comes with limited adjustments, and is not very bright. Further, the 8-bit panel is rather limiting in terms of color reproduction.

External Reviews

rtings[1]

Reviewer score 28% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The MSI Optix G27C4 is a decent monitor for most uses, but its 1080p resolution is a bit low for a 27 inch screen. It's a great gaming monitor, though, as it has a 165Hz refresh rate, excellent response time, and a low input lag to provide a smooth and responsive gaming experience. Viewing angles are rather poor, and the monitor's bad ergonomics make it hard to adjust to your optimal viewing position.
Pros
  • High refresh rate
  • Excellent response time
  • Low input lag
  • Good reflection handling
Cons
  • Low peak brightness
  • Mediocre viewing angles

tomshardware[2]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomshardware have found:
There are no internal speakers, but you get a headphone jack on the input panel. At FHD resolution, the Windows desktop suffered a bit with visible jaggies in some photos. While an sRGB mode would have been nice for the pickier videophiles, the G27C4's wide color gamut certainly looks lush.
Pros
  • Wide color gamut
  • Excellent contrast and color reproduction
  • Excellent build quality
Cons
  • No sRGB mode
  • No RGB lighting
