Product Overview

Bang & Olufsen Beosound Stage is a high-end all-in-one soundbar. One of the most premium in its class, the Beosound Stage comes with 11 individually-powered drivers in a chassis made of aluminum or wood and supports most modern input methods.
As expected, the drivers are powered by class D digital amplifiers. They form what can best be described as a 3.0-channel setup, though through digital processing the soundbar is able to simulate height speakers (also thanks to the slight tilt of the outer full-range drivers).
Like other B&O products, the Beosound Stage has an exceptionally elegant design. that blends in most modern homes. A potential drawback, however, is that the unit is optically hung on the wall: while Bang & Olufsen likes consumers to believe that place the Stage on its back works just fine, placing the speakers facing up is surely suboptimal.
For those who want the sleekest look, B&O will gladly sell them a TV stand specifically designed to work with the Beosound Stage (for $800).
Those who wish for a form factor that may be easier to manage may be interested in B&O's Beoplay A9 or Beosound Balance.

External Reviews

digitaltrends[1]

Reviewer score 64% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
B&O Beosound Stage is a fabulous one-speaker solution for room-filling music or TV audio. But it falls short as a way of adding the immersive qualities of Dolby Atmos. You can get the excellent $800 Bose Soundbar 700 for less than half the price. If Atmos is a must-have, you can't go wrong with the Sonos Arc.
Pros
  • Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound
  • Excellent sound quality
  • Alexa and Google Assistant support
Cons
  • Doesn’t deliver on Atmos
  • No built-in surround drivers

pcmag[2]

Reviewer score 68% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Stage has a bright, crisp, rich sound signature. In neutral audio mode, on tracks with intense sub-bass content, the Stage delivers powerful low-frequency depth. In Music mode, the bass depth is perhaps pushed forward and the highs are less crisp. The Stage can use a touch more sub bass than it's capable of.
Pros
  • Rich, crisp, rich sound signature
  • Accurate rumble
  • Clear, clear audio
Cons
  • No subwoofer
  • Lacks bass depth

rtings[3]

Reviewer score 45% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Stage is decent for mixed use. It has a slightly boxy sound profile that lacks a bit of low-bass, which can affect thumpy genres like EDM or action-packed movies. Its companion app comes with a graphic EQ and presets so that you can tweak its sound to your liking.
Pros
  • Graphic EQ and presets
  • Supports Dolby Atmos
  • Gets loud enough to fill a large or crowded room
  • Outstanding wireless connectivity options
Cons
  • Out-of-the-box sound profile
  • Lacks low-bass
  • Can't downmix surround content into stereo

t3[4]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from t3 have found:
The Bang & Olufsen Stage has 11 drivers, all of which work in tandem like a fine-tuned orchestra. There are four bass drivers, in a stereo configuration, plus two 38mm mid-rangers and a central 19mm dome tweeter. Connections are limited to two HDMI connections: a single HDMI 2.0 input and HDMI eARC to go into the TV, with support for 4K HDR and Dolby Vision.
Pros
  • Impressive sound
  • Dolby Atmos and Apple AirPlay 2 support
Cons
  • Expensive for a soundbar
  • No outboard subwoofer

trustedreviews[5]

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
The Stage employs 11 individual speaker drivers, each with their own 50W amplifier module. There are four bass bins, paired in a stereo configuration, plus two 38mm mid-range drivers and a 19mm dome tweeter centred. There’s no separate subwoofer supplied with the Stage, but it doesn’t require one. Streaming support includes Apple AirPlay 2, with Chromecast built-in.
Pros
  • Sleek, minimalist design
  • Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision
Cons
  • No remote control
  • No Apple AirPlay 2

whathifi[6]

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from whathifi have found:
The Bang & Olufsen Stage is a slim-looking soundbar, dressed in fabric and framed entirely by a single piece of aluminium or oak, depending on the finish. It's just over a metre wide, which means it'll stretch nicely across a 50in+ TV, while it's also 7.7cm thick to allow for the amplifier, speakers and processing engine. B&O has chosen not to kit it out with microphones - it's of the opinion that voice control in a TV is of limited use.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Excellent Atmos soundtracks
  • Easy to use app
Cons
  • No Dolby Atmos
