Product Overview

LG XBOOM Go PL7 is the largest of the PL-series of wireless speakers launched in 2020. It features a simple setup with two full-range drivers and two side-firing passive radiators, on which the RGB lighting elements are located.
Some pluses of the PL7 include its long, 24-hour battery life and its IPX5 water resistance. Per usual, up to 100 LG wireless speakers can form a Wireless Party Link for large parties, while two PL7s can be paired to form a stereo system.
While the PL7 is already rather affordable, those who wish for a more portable size can check out the PL3 and PL5.

techradar[1]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
At 245 x 98 x 98mm, the LG XBoom Go PL7 is even larger than some competing Bluetooth speakers. At $129 (£169.99 / AU$259), the device is priced a little higher than we'd like for what is essentially party speaker for young people. The PL7 offers a clear emphasis on vocals, which are brought front and center during playback, regardless of your chosen music.
Pros
  • Great audio performance
  • IPX5 water resistance
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • No EQ settings
  • Limited EQ settings

tomsguide[2]

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The PL7 has two 2.3-inch drivers to produce the treble and midrange tones. It has buttons for volume, power, Bluetooth pairing, Sound Boost (which makes the vocals louder) and a light for battery level. Unlike many portable Bluetooth speakers, the PL7 doesn't have Alexa or Google Assistant inside.
Pros
  • Bright, detailed sound
  • Good battery life
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No Alexa or Google Assistant
  • No equalizer

trustedreviews[3]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
The LG XBOOM PL7 is a very good portable speaker. It produces a full and weighty sound with the dual action passive radiators giving it an additional thrum and bellow that’s above other similarly priced speakers. Sound Boost makes the soundfield bigger, funnelling more power and energy through its 2.3-inch woofers. It doesn’t create a wide soundstage, but there are decent levels of separation and good timing and rhythm to its flow.
Pros
  • Big and powerful sound
  • Easy to use
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Bass isn’t for everyone
