Product Overview

Apple Watch Series 7 is the 2021 iteration of the world's most popular smartwatch. This year, Apple has reworked the always-on OLED display and, unsurprisingly, bumped up the dimensions of both sizes on the Watch 7. Other improvements in weather resistance, battery life, and health-related features round up the update.
The Apple Watch 7 comes in 41mm and 45mm sizes, both with higher resolution displays than the Watch 6. The new bezels measure just 1.7mm around the display; with the larger dimensions of the devices, they allow for close to 20% larger display areas. Apple also promises better display performance.
In terms of durability, Apple has finally included dust resistance for the Watch 7. It is also suggested that the new shape allows the sapphire crystal glass to be thicker and more robust.
The Watch 7 features the same 18 hour battery life, though it now charges faster.
Last but not least, the Series 7 Apple Watch offers a richer set of health features. It comes with a case in either aluminum or stainless steel.

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from arstechnica have found:
Despite a revamped Photos app for watchOS 8, you must use your phone to select photos for your parallax background. Apple Car Keys was introduced in 2020, but the growing list of compatible vehicles and the U1 chip within the Apple Watch enable proximity-based features. Right now, you can save at least $50 buying a Series 6 over a $400 Series 7.
Pros
  • More advanced health features
  • Better battery life than the Series 7
  • Better-looking design
Cons
  • More expensive than Series 7

Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The Watch Series 7 has a new charger, complete with fast charging, and is easily recognizable compared to the older versions due to the silver case. It provides an 80% charge in 45 minutes according to Apple, but when plugged into the Apple fast charger, it exceeds this, getting to about 88% in that time. There is also has a handy feature where an eight-minute charge will return eight hours of sleep tracking.
Pros
  • Fast charging
  • Excellent health tracking
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • No always-on display

Reviewers from gizmodo have found:
Apple continues to refine Fitness+ with new classes, but it hasn't changed how it interacts with the Apple Watch itself. In the Health app, you can also now see your respiratory rate, but sleep tracking remains disappointingly basic. If you have a Series 3 or 4 and upgrade to the Series 7, you'll absolutely have a brand new experience.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Improved fitness tracking
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • Poor sleep tracking
  • No wireless charging

ndtv[4]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from ndtv have found:
The Apple Watch Series 7 is capable of tracking blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) It takes around 15 seconds to measure your level, during which you need to be completely still. While SpO2 tracking is convenient, no wearable should be used as a replacement for a dedicated pulse oximeter. The watch primarily relies on Bluetooth to stay connected to your iPhone. You can take incoming calls directly on the watch and make outgoing calls.
Pros
  • Decent battery life
  • Accurate heart rate tracking
  • Always-on display
Cons
  • Doesn’t track blood oxygen saturation (SpO2)
  • No ECG

nextpit[5]

Reviewer score 92% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from nextpit have found:
The Apple Watch is once again available in different versions: aluminum, stainless steel and titanium. The aluminum variants are available this year in five different colors: Midnight, Starlight, Green, Blue, and (PRODUCT)RED. Apple is offering two special editions again this year. For sports enthusiasts, there is the Apple Watch Nike with special straps and Watch Faces. For those who prefer something that is much more exclusive (and obviously, expensive), the Applewatch Hermès is the right choice.
Pros
  • Very good battery life
  • Improved display
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • Battery life could be better
  • No IP6X certification

notebookcheck[6]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The Apple Watch Series 7 is run by the inhouse Apple S7 SiP. It uses a dual-core processor that operates at up to 1.8 GHz and includes 1 GB of working memory and 32 GB internal storage. The watch is also supported by an integrated compass and altitude measurement that is constantly activated. Locating the watch succeeds very quickly outdoors and even indoors.
Pros
  • Long battery life
  • Integrated GPS
  • Accurate GPS
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • No wireless charging
  • No IP certification

pcmag[7]

Reviewer score 93% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Apple Watch Series 7 builds upon its class-leading predecessor with a larger screen, faster charging, and improved durability. The only comparable non-Apple smartwatches we've tested are the $249.99 Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic. While the Watch4 series offers more health innovations, the Series 7 has a major advantage when it comes to third-party apps.
Pros
  • Larger screen
  • Improved battery life
  • Improved health and safety features
  • Improved durability
Cons
  • No third-party apps

techradar[8]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
WatchOS 8 doesn't add a huge amount to the mix, but it does have a few little flicks and tricks to play with. The noise monitoring is excellent, providing daily feedback on your audio health and letting you know if you spend too long in a dangerous environment. You get handwashing notifications too - in this pandemic-y era, being'made' to wash your hands for 20 seconds is a great feature and one we'd buy the Watch for alone.
Pros
  • Great battery life
  • Great new Focus Modes
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • Battery life isn’t great
  • Not the best for sleep tracking

theverge[9]

Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from theverge have found:
WatchOS 8 has a redesigned photos app and lets you send photos directly from the watch. It has an updated “Mindfulness” app with a “Reflect” feature that gives you some kind of prompt to meditate on. There’s no reason that we should have an expectation of major year-on-year updates.
Pros
  • Great battery life
  • Great smartwatch features
  • Great fitness tracking
Cons
  • Battery life could be better
  • Only one year of warranty

tomsguide[10]

Reviewer score 89% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The Apple Watch Series 7 battery life can last up to two days, but that’s if you pass on popular features. We'd like to see the Apple Watch introduce a rest mode or gives you an earned way to justify taking a day off. The Apple Watch is still a reliable fitness tracker and one of the best running watches.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Long battery life
  • Long-lasting battery
Cons
  • No new health features

wired[11]

Reviewer score 90% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from wired have found:
The Apple Watch Series 7 has an updated display that's 20 percent bigger than the Series 6. The bigger display also has a full QWERTY keyboard with QuickPath, which allows you to type by sliding your finger instead of trying to peck at a tiny spot. The battery life is still abysmal, but it does make it through a full day.
Pros
  • Faster charging than the Series 6
  • Always-on display is great for workouts and sleep tracking
  • Long battery life
Cons
  • Battery life is still abysmal
