Product Overview

Sony WF-C500 are basic true wireless headphones with IPX4 water resistance and a long battery life. Available in four different colors, these more barebones headphones are targeting the more price-sensitive youth market.
The WF-C500 feature 5.8mm dynamic drivers with Neodymium magnets. While the charging case carries only one additional charge, the earbuds themselves are able to deliver up to 10 hours of continuous music playback or 5 hours of talk time.
Sony touts its Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) that digitally enhance low-resolution sources, though it is up to the listener to find out whether the specific tracks that s/he is listening to benefits from such program.
One advantage that the WF-C500 have over more premium alternatives is that the sleek carrying case is very compact. The earbuds also fit into smaller ears better.
Alongside the WF-C500, Sony also introduced the WH-XB910N mid-range over-ear headphones.

digitaltrends[1]

Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The WF-C500 are a very comfortable set of true wireless earbuds with great sound quality. They're missing some helpful features like transparency mode and auto-pause. Their total battery life is a bit anemic, but they're still a good buy for Sony fans.
Pros
  • Great sound quality
  • Comfortable fit
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • No transparency mode
  • No side-tone option

techradar[2]

Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
Sony WF-C500 use Bluetooth 5 for wireless connectivity, delivered by a pair of 6mm full-range drivers. IPX4 makes them nicely resistant to moisture and water-splashes, and a choice of four colors is welcome too. No active noise-cancelling, there's no wireless charging, the charging case itself (while perfectly well made) is nothing special.
Pros
  • Decent sound quality
  • Decent battery life
Cons
  • No active noise-cancelling
  • No wireless charging

whathifi[3]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from whathifi have found:
Sony WF-C500 are a great sub-£100 pair of in-ear headphones. Built-in Google Assistant and Siri can be used to control the Sonys. Bass is just slightly short of what we'd describe as 'deep', but the low end is properly shaped and controlled, and carries plenty of detail regarding texture and timbre.
Pros
  • Decent build quality
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Decent battery life
Cons
  • Not the most expansive in terms of scale
