Product Overview

HP Victus 16t-d000 is a new 16.1-inch gaming laptop that curiously resembles the OMEN 16t-b000 that HP introduced earlier this year. At first glance, one would be hard-pressed to tell them apart, though the Victus uses a plastic chassis and is marginally thicker as a result.
Other notable differences from the OMEN 16 include a downgrade of the Victus' display to a choice between a 60Hz unit and a 144Hz one. The sole USB-C port is also downgraded to USB 3.1 Gen1 (5Gbps). The Victus' keyboard is no longer RGB-backlit.
Apart from these compromises, the Victus 16t-d000 makes for an affordable entry point to mobile gaming (which granted has become less affordable over recent years).
Moreover, those on Team Red can find the same laptop powered by AMD in the form of Victus 16z-e000.

digitaltrends[1]

Reviewer score 56% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The HP Victus 16 is a legitimate contender in the medium-priced gaming market. It’s well-equipped and performs admirably. Its chassis, although a bit too bendable, isn’t too large to carry around. The one-year warranty remains as disappointing as ever.
Pros
  • Excellent gaming performance
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Lack of touchpad
  • No Windows 11 Hello support

Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
, particularly in the AS SSD benchmark. It is also very useful that those who want to expand the storage will find an empty M.2 slot under the hood. With the exception of "Crysis Remastered," all the tested games were run at more than 60 fps even in maximum detail settings. At 70 Wh, HP has equipped the Victus 16 with a battery capacity that is neither large nor particularly small.
Pros
  • Matte 144 Hz display
  • High-quality case
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • High temperatures under load
  • Only one M.2 slot

pcmag[3]

Reviewer score 64% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The HP Victus 16 is a good-looking notebook with an appealing screen size and a wide range of configuration options. The XPG's GeForce RTX 3070 is the strongest GPU here and the Dell's GeForce GTX 1650 Ti much the weakest. The Victus was next to last in battery stamina, but its seven-hour runtime is by no means bad for a gaming notebook.
Pros
  • High-quality 144Hz display
  • Good battery life
  • Good keyboard and touchpad
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3 port

pcworld[4]

Reviewer score 60% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcworld have found:
HP’s Victus 16 clearly offers substantial value as a budget gaming notebook. The $1,249 price tag is worth applauding, especially with supply-chain woes gnawing at profit margins. HP clearly sacrificed some of the bling of rival notebooks to deliver a no-nonsense gaming PC.
Pros
  • Bright, high-resolution screen
  • Good battery life
  • Long-lasting battery
Cons
  • No Thunderbolt 3 port
  • Display could be brighter

tomsguide[5]

Reviewer score 47% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The Victus delivers solid overall performance for a 16-inch gaming laptop in this price range. The 4.9 x 3.2 touchpad feels quite large and performs well for casual tasks. The battery life on the Victus doesn't blow the competition out of the water, but I also didn't find it a hinderance in any way.
Pros
  • Sleek design
  • Solid gaming performance
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Middling performance
  • No USB Type-C port
