Product Overview

iPhone 13 is Apple's 2021 mainline smartphone for the holiday season. Unveiled a month earlier than its predecessor, the iPhone 13 is virtually indistinguishable in terms of design, except for the rear camera placement.
Just like the iPhone 12, the 13th iteration of the world's most popular premium smartphone has a 6.1-inch OLED display flatly placed in an aluminum chassis with glass front and back. Perhaps to make the difference appear to be greater, Apple renamed black and white colors options to Midnight and Starlight respectively.
In this release, Apple is silent on the performance improvements of the A15 Bionic chip, preferring to compare it to the competition. Considering that the previous chipset represented a marked leap in performance, we can assume that the A15 Bionic, just like the iPhone 13, is an marginal evolution of its predecessor.
Last but not least, Apple is claiming a strong improvement in battery life for the iPhone 13. This is in part reflected in the phone is slightly thicker chassis.
As before, Apple also released the iPhone 13 mini with much of the same specifications (except size and display) for those who value the compactness of a phone.

Reviewers from androidauthority have found:
With a starting price of $799, the iPhone 13 is the device most consumers are likely to pick based on its balance of cost and capabilities. It covers the sub-flagship basics with a large, pixel-rich screen, all-day life, and a toughened, water-resistant chassis. The iPhone 13 may be tough to sell to hardened Android fans.
Pros
  • Gorgeous, bright display
  • Ultra-fast performance
  • Excellent battery life
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • No telephoto camera
  • No headphone jack

, and clarity than you typically get in lowlight settings. You can record 4K at 60 frames per second, 30 fps, and 24 fps for video. The iPhone 13 strikes an outstanding balance between size, performance, and price. It's smaller than the gargantuan iPhone 13 Pro Max, but offers more screen real estate.
Pros
  • Great camera performance
  • Great battery life
  • Excellent lowlight camera
Cons
  • No telephoto lens for 3x optical zoom
  • No waterproofing

Reviewers from gizmodo have found:
The iPhone 13 Pro is the more well-rounded camera system capable of a wider variety of great shots. The 13 and 13 Mini undeniably have compelling price tags for flagship phones. If you're not an Android person and simply want to know which iPhone to buy, I don't have a one-size-fits-all recommendation.
Pros
  • Faster than last year's iPhone
  • Excellent battery life
  • Great cameras
Cons
  • No telephoto camera
  • No headphone jack

Reviewers from gsmarena have found:
The Apple iPhone 13 is a very capable smartphone with one of the fastest chipsets. It is ideal for photography and video capturing on the go, great for bloggers and vloggers on a budget. It also does a brilliant job at streaming your favorite shows and playing demanding games. And for such a compact device, the battery life turned out pretty good, too.
Pros
  • Fantastic 120Hz display
  • Great battery life
  • Great cameras
Cons
  • No wireless charging
  • No 5-year warranty

laptopmag[5]

Reviewer score 89% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
The iPhone 13 runs iOS 15, which was released in mid-September. The new OS comes with a slew of exciting updates that enhance FaceTime calls, notifications, Safari, Apple Maps, and more. iOS 15 now lets users blur their background during FaceTime, which is a nice touch.
Pros
  • Gorgeous, colorful display
  • Cinematic Mode works best when there are two distinct subjects in the frame
Cons
  • Limited battery life

notebookcheck[6]

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
Under load, the iPhone 13 becomes noticeably warm with up to 43.6 °C (~110.5 °F) The controls are not an issue, either: The accurate touchscreen and gyroscope work flawlessly. With the latest iPhone, we were able to browse the web for more than 17 hours.
Pros
  • Bright 120 Hz display
  • Fast Wi-Fi
  • Long battery life
  • Fast charging
Cons
  • Slow 120 Hz refresh rate
  • No IP certification

pcmag[7]

Reviewer score 91% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
In terms of zoom, the iPhone 13 (like the iPhone 12) falls down on the job. The 13 has two lenses, a standard wide and an ultrawide, which most of the competition has moved past by now. To get the 3x zoom which is common on Android competitors, you have to step up to the $999 iPhone 13 Pro.
Pros
  • Bigger, brighter screen than the iPhone 12
  • Great battery life
  • Longer battery life than iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 mini
Cons
  • No 3x zoom lens
  • No telephoto lens

techradar[8]

Reviewer score 88% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The iPhone 13 comes running iOS 15 out of the box, so you can enjoy all the latest software features. Apple doesn't seem to need a lot of RAM to make the most of its A15 Bionic. Your storage options are 128GB, 256GB or 512GB. Wireless charging makes a return here, and if you've got a compatible charger you'll be able to hit 15W.
Pros
  • Improved battery life
  • New Focus mode
  • Improved cameras
Cons
  • No wireless charging
  • No headphone jack

tomsguide[9]

Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The iPhone 13 improves on what was already the best iPhone for most people. I especially like the longer battery life, as the iPhone 12’s endurance was underwhelming even for a 5G phone. While the Pixel phones don't sell in numbers, they do offer serious competition when it comes to cameras.
Pros
  • Fantastic performance
  • Long battery life
  • Great cameras
Cons
  • No wireless charging
  • No 120Hz display

whathifi[10]

Reviewer score 99% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from whathifi have found:
Apple claims the iPhone 13 delivers all-day battery life and that it should last two and and a half hours longer than the iPhone 12. The internal speakers cope fine with most things sent their way thanks to their even-handed approach. There's a decent amount of detail and clarity – just don't expect much in the way of hefty bass. The iPhone 13 is undoubtedly worthy of five-star status.
Pros
  • Gorgeous screen
  • Excellent battery life
  • Excellent cameras
Cons
  • No wireless charging
  • No headphone jack
