Product Overview

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 is the company's third-generation flagship foldable smartphone. It is marginally smaller than its predecessor from 2020, while retaining the same general design.
While displays of similar sizes (at 7.6" and 6.2" respectively) remain largely the same as before, they are brighter and more efficient than before. Further, both displays on the Galaxy Z Fold3 support 120Hz refresh rate.
Moreover, the Z Fold3 now supports S Pen digitizer. Samsung offers two options, the standard S Pen Pro or the specific S Pen Fold Edition. Both feature a special retractable Pro tip with force limit technology to protect the softer main screen.
Another key upgrade is 5G support.
Alongside the Galaxy Z Fold3, Samsung also unveiled the Z Flip3.

  • Solid cameras
Cons
  • No Google Play Services
  • No wireless charging

Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the best foldable on the market. It offers one of the best gaming experiences I've gotten on a phone. It's also still expensive at $1,800, though the price tag becomes more palatable if you think of it as a potential replacement for your phone, tablet, and e-reader.
Pros
  • Excellent multitasking and productivity performance
  • Excellent battery life
  • Solid build quality
Cons
  • No S Pen support
  • No wireless charging

Reviewers from gsmarena have found:
Like its name suggests, the S Pen Fold Edition only works on the Z Fold3. It has the soft tip and spring dampening. It is essentially passive and does not have a battery but does retain support for Samsung's Air command features. Tracking is just as precise as we have come to expect out of Samsung's S Pen tech, and response time is also really impressive.
Pros
  • Incredible S Pen performance
  • Very thin and light
  • Very good battery life
Cons
  • No microSD card slot
  • No wireless charging

laptopmag[4]

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 runs Android 11 with Samsung's One UI 3.1. The front-facing hole-punch camera is a 10MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. This is not to be confused with the under-display camera on the internal display, which is a 4MP at f/1.8. Samsung remains the best in the Android world when it comes to software updates.
Pros
  • Flex mode is a huge improvement over the Galaxy Z Flip 3
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • No telephoto camera
  • No headphone jack

, but some competitors can do even better, especially when it comes to small data blocks. A constant 60 FPS is possible in PUBG Mobile in the HD setting, and even with the highest detail settings enabled, the Fold3 doesn't experience any stuttering. The surface temperatures of the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G remain completely safe even under load, and the foldable never gets uncomfortably warm.
Pros
  • Large 120 Hz OLED display
  • Fast SoC
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Poor camera quality
  • Slow SoC

pcmag[6]

Reviewers from pcmag have found:
For a $1,799 phone, these cameras are a little disappointing. With a maximum 2x zoom, there's also no comparison to the S21 Ultra's 10x zoom. The under-display selfie camera is not great. It has no night mode, which meant my low-light selfies were pretty much blacked out.
Pros
  • Foldable form factor
  • Good battery life
  • Good cameras
Cons
  • No night mode
  • No headphone jack
  • No wireless charging

t3[7]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from t3 have found:
The camera on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 doesn't quite match up to Samsung's flagship S series smartphones. While you can expect bright shots across the board and plenty of detail from the default settings, you won't get a strong balance between light and dark areas. When you switch to ultrawide mode, you're sure to lose out on detail as well. When it comes to the two front cameras, the 4MP under-display snapper isn't great. So you definitely won't be taking selfies with it, but for video calls, it will do. The 10MP selfies on the cover screen is much better and is capable of taking bright, flattering selfies. With the phone partially folded, you can change where everything sits on the display, as well as use Capture View.
Pros
  • Foldable design
  • Great battery life
  • Great performance
Cons
  • Underwhelming camera
  • Underwhelming under-display camera

techradar[8]

Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 runs Android 11 with Samsung's own One UI overlay on top. The S Pen is a major addition here – it's the first time Samsung has included stylus support in a foldable phone. There isn't a clear place to store your stylus – you'll need to opt for a particular case to have a place to put it.
Pros
  • Foldable design
  • Good battery life
  • S Pen included
Cons
  • S Pen only works with the main screen
  • No magnetic connection

Reviewers from theverge have found:
Samsung's big goal for its folding phones this year is to make them “mainstream” For the Z Flip 3, Samsung hopes it can become a premium alternative for people who would otherwise buy a “normal” phone. For $1,800 I'd like something better, but that money is going toward the screen, the waterproofing, and the rest.
Pros
  • Big screen
  • Good performance
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • Camera quality isn’t great
  • No waterproofing

tomsguide[10]

Reviewers from tomsguide have found:
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 delivers a shot that's nearly as good as the S21 Ultra at 10x, even if the pic is a bit too bright. The under-display camera is a step forward in terms of design, letting you see more of the screen in use. But you'll need to trade off some image quality from this 4MP shooter.
Pros
  • Slim, lightweight design
  • Foldable design
  • Excellent camera performance
Cons
  • Lackluster battery life
  • No wireless charging

whathifi[11]

Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from whathifi have found:
The Z Fold 3 runs the latest Snapdragon 5-nanometer AP and 5G connection, backed up with a respectable 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of built-in storage. The rear camera is an improved 12MP triple affair with a 10MP cover camera – remember, there's the new super-clear glass to ensure a great shot. The battery is a beefy 4400mAh dual affair and you also get stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
Pros
  • S Pen Fold Edition is a great addition to the foldable screen
  • Excellent battery life
Cons
  • No headphone jack
  • No wireless charging
