Product Overview

ASUS ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703 is a high-end 17.3-inch gaming laptop. It boasts 11th-gen Intel Tiger Lake H-series processors up to i9-11900H paired with NVIDIA's RTX 30-series GPU up to RTX 3080 with 16GB of GDDR6 memory.
A unique engineering choice of the new ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703 is the addition of the tilt-up section. Its design is akin to that found in ROG's Zephyrus Duo models, not only improving ergonomics but also aiding in cooling. It is a key reason why ASUS is able to pack a 140W GPU into this chassis under 20mm in thickness.
Another point worth noting is the optical mechanical keyboard with 1.9mm key travel, per-key RGB lighting, and N-key rollover.
At the front, ASUS has given the GX703 two display options, both are IPS panels with 100% DCI-P3 coverage and 3ms response time. The 165Hz variant further adds G-SYNC support (while the 120Hz unit makes do with Adaptive-Sync).
The display is buttressed by another industry-leading feature in the 6-speaker setup with dual tweeters and quad woofers. The laptop also supports two-way AI noise cancellation.
Last but not least, I/O options are complete in the ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703, too. Not only is Thunderbolt 4 included, but we can also find full-size HDMI and RJ45 Ethernet connections already onboard. There is further support for a total of three PCIe 4 SSD.
The GX703 is a major upgrade from the GX701 from 2020, making it one of the more interesting models on the market today.

notebookcheck[1]

Reviewer score 56% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
Asus has a very good gaming laptop in store here, but we can't decide whether the unusual opening in the case is a cool feature or more of a disadvantage. The Zephyrus is usually a bit quieter than the competition but not exactly cooler. On the other hand, there's also the questionable aspect of longevity, even though the lifted keyboard unit makes a very stable impression.
Pros
  • High-resolution display
  • Very good CPU performance
  • Good battery life
  • Good speakers
Cons
  • Slow WLAN
  • No Thunderbolt 3

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The Zephyrus S17 posted one of the highest scores we've ever seen from a gaming laptop. Its Core i9 chip propelled it into the lead, just ahead of the Core i7-based Aorus. All five systems' fast SSDs breezed through PCMark 8's storage subtest.
Pros
  • Gorgeous 165Hz WQHD display
  • Excellent gaming performance
  • Excellent keyboard and touchpad
Cons
  • No keyboard backlighting
