Onkyo TX-RZ840 is a premium 11.2-channel network AV receiver. It comes with a large number of standard I/O options and supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound. It is essentially the up-rated version of the TX-RZ740.
Compared to the TX-RZ740, the TX-RZ840 has a notable power boost without sacrificing any feature or sound quality. In fact, it has the exact same wired and wireless setup: Thanks to not only WiFi 5 and LAN but also Bluetooth connectivity, the TX-RZ840 is able to support all modern network streaming services. It is also able to stream directly from mobile devices. In terms of wired connections, the TX-RZ840 offers all that one would expect from a modern AV receiver. It even supports component video and composite video inputs.
Meanwhile, the TX-RZ840 has the same exact DAC found in the TX-RZ740. Hence, which model to choose depends on the speakers.
