Product Overview
Razer Barracuda X is a multi-platform wireless headset that is compatible with not only PC but also PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Android, thanks to its large set of included I/O interfaces.
The versatility of the Barracuda X is further extended by the detachable form factor of the microphone, allowing it to be used as wireless headphones.
The Barracuda X uses Razer's HyperSpeed Wireless USB-C dongle, which provides a low latency, high-resolution connection. The headset can also be used via its 4-pole 3.5mm jack.
The drivers featured in the Barracuda X are 40mm variants of Razer's TriForce units, which have powered the company's BlackShark V2 and Kaira headsets.

laptopmag[1]
Reviewer score 59% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Razer Barracuda X packs 40mm Razer TriForce Drivers. It can connect to a Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, PC and Android device. It's rated for 20 hours of battery life, which seemed to line up with my testing. However, not having free audio software to adjust the EQ settings is frustrating.
Pros
- Comfortable fit
- Good audio quality
- Good battery life
Cons
- No companion audio software
pcmag[2]
Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Razer Barracuda X is an incredibly flexible gaming headset with a USB-C dongle that works with nearly anything. You can plug it into your PC, Android phone, PS5, or Switch and enjoy wireless audio. For a relatively inexpensive wireless gaming headset, it's a good audio profile. The $119.99 Astro Gaming A20 Gen 2 is a bit pricier, but has versions that work with the PS5 or the Xbox.
Pros
- Solid audio performance
- USB-C dongle works with nearly anything
- Supports PC, Android, and Switch
Cons
- Doesn’t work with PS5 or Xbox
rtings[3]
Reviewer score 32% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Razer Barracuda X are satisfactory for neutral sound. They have a neutral, though slightly warm sound profile that adds a little extra thump and punch in the bass range. However, higher frequencies of vocals and lead instruments may be a bit dark or dull. Unfortunately, there aren't any sound customization features available to help you adjust their sound.
Pros
- Out-of-the-box
- Long battery life
- Comfortable fit
Cons
- Poor noise isolation
- No sound customization features

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Razer Barracuda X gaming headset works with PC, Playstation, Nintendo Switch and Android devices. Using 40mm Razer TriForce drivers, the headset sounds great, and the 7.1 surround sound does a good job at giving you 360-degree audio during gameplay. Not only does it look smart and have an effective detachable microphone, but it's also comfortable and has a very long-lasting battery life. If you're willing to spend a bit more on the best gaming headset you can buy, take a look at the Actis 7P.
Pros
- Comfortable design
- Good sound quality
- Long-lasting battery life
Cons
- No wireless connection
- No Bluetooth option
techradar[5]
Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Razer Barracuda X offers wireless compatibility across PC, Playstation 5, Nintendo Switch and Android via a USB-C dongle. Razer's Triforce titanium drivers allow the headset to provide 7.1 surround sound compatible with both Spatial Audio for Playstation 5 and PC through THX. There are some dubious trade-offs made for those who may use the gaming headset on PC such as the lack of Razer Synapse support and extra fee for using THX Spatial audio.
Pros
- Sleek design
- Comfortable fit
- Supports Spatial Audio on PS5 and PC
Cons
- Doesn’t support Razer Synapse
tomsguide[6]
Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Razer Barracuda X is a solid wireless gaming headset from a trusted manufacturer. It sounds decent very easily to a variety of gear, and connects wirelessly to a wide variety of consoles. Like other gaming headsets in this price range, it's a little treble-heavy and doesn't convey much musical richness.
Pros
- Decent sound quality
- Wireless connectivity
- Comfortable fit
Cons
- No Razer Synapse
- No customization options
tomshardware[7]
Reviewer score 71% (normalized by Neofiliac)Razer's Barracuda X is a versatile, inexpensive choice for PC, Switch, PlayStation, and Android gamers. It has surprisingly good audio quality for the price, a decent microphone, a really comfortable design and great battery life. The only included software is a 7.1 Surround Sound utility, for which you receive an activation code.
Pros
- Good audio quality for the price
- Comfortable design
- Solid microphone
Cons
- Lacks Bluetooth and Xbox support
- No software-based battery meter
trustedreviews[8]
Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Razer Barracuda uses 40mm Razer TriForce drivers that are essentially a shrunken down version of what you’ll find inside Razer’s popular BlackShark V2 headset. You also get a USB-C charging port with an LED light indicator for battery life, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a port for you to stick the bundled cardioid microphone inside. I was surprised by how detailed the audio was when playing Apex Legends on the PS5, with the thunderous gunfire and metallic clanking of footsteps sounding delightfully crisp. However, the headset doesn’t perform so well with loud bassy effects, with grenade explosions sounding constrained and hollow.
Pros
- Excellent audio quality
- Comfortable fit
- Great battery life
Cons
- No wireless charging
- No 3.5mm headphone jack
