Product Overview

The G83 BMW M4 Convertible is the performance variant of the G23 4-series Convertible. Initially launched in the M4 Competition guise, it has similar underpinnings of the G82 M4 Coupe, while its body style entails a tradeoff between performance and open-top driving experience.
The updated S58B30T0 engine is the twin-turbo, high-performance variant of the B58B30 that can be found in most BMW models. Unlike the Coupe version, the M4 Competition comes standard with an 8-speed automatic with standard M xDrive all-wheel drive.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
More so than the weight, the fabric roof benefits the styling. Since the boot no longer needs to hold three metal roof sections, the whole rear deck can be lower, more shapely and more like the coupé. Power is provided by the familiar 3.0-litre straight six with 503bhp at 6250rpm.
Pros
  • Gorgeous styling
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Excellent infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of precision on uneven roads

carmagazine[2]

Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The M4 Convertible is the last rowdy, stupid-fast droptop standing this side of a 911. The new roof mechanism is fabric again, which is 40 per cent lighter and takes up less space than the previous generation. The roof folds or opens in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 31mph.
Pros
  • Ridiculously sharp straight-six
  • Fantastic infotainment system
Cons
  • No roof
  • Alternatives are more fun
