Product Overview

SteelSeries Arctis Prime is a premium wired gaming headset unveiled alongside three new gaming mice in the company's new Prime range. It resembles the Arctis 5 in terms of features, though the Arctis Prime delivers a broader frequency response and lower distortion.
Indeed, the drivers in the Arctis Prime are those found in the Arctis Pro. This allows the Arctis Prime to double the frequency range of typical headsets.
Like other SteelSeries Arctis headsets, the Arctis Prime has a lightweight aluminum alloy and steel construction. It also has premium leatherette ear cushions that ensure comfort in long gaming sessions.

External Reviews

laptopmag[1]

Reviewer score 80% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from laptopmag have found:
The SteelSeries Arctis Prime's 40-millimeter neodymium drivers produce bright and loud audio. At 12.1 ounces, the headset is a little heavier than Razer Barracuda X, which comes in at 8.8 ounces. It's also easy to adjust thanks to the velcro. If you don't like a tight fit, you might not like this headset.
Pros
  • Great audio quality
  • Solid build quality
  • Comfortable fit
Cons
  • Doesn’t connect to SteelSeries’ software

rtings[2]

Reviewer score 22% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The SteelSeries Arctis Prime are satisfactory for neutral sound. While they have a fairly neutral sound profile, the high-mid to low-treble is recessed, so vocals and lead instruments sound somewhat weak and veiled. Our unit's L/R drivers are also mismatched, although this issue may be unique to our model. Unfortunately, they lack companion software to help customize their sound.
Pros
  • Comfortable fit
  • Well-built design
  • Excellent noise isolation
  • Comfortable fits
  • Good noise isolation performance
Cons
  • Lacks companion software
  • Bass and treble delivery varies significantly across users
  • Bulky design

techradar[3]

Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The SteelSeries Arctis Prime gaming headset costs $99 (£99, AU$119) It borrows the steel headband design and ski band suspension system found on other headsets. It also has the retractable ClearCast boom mic that's featured prominently on this series. It uses a wired connection with a 3.5mm combo connector as well as a mic/headset splitter.
Pros
  • Competitive gaming performance
  • Comfortable, breathable ear cups
  • Good noise isolation
Cons
  • Mediocre low-end
  • No mic mute

tomshardware[4]

Reviewer score 65% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from tomshardware have found:
The Arctis Prime's Hi-Res performance was somewhat underwhelming at times. The mic is crisp and clear, capturing and reproducing a solid representation of the voice. The lack of SideTone, or mic monitoring that lets you control how much of your voice you can hear, and ChatMix, which lets you balance audio from your teammates and the actual game, are disappointing.
Pros
  • Comfortable fit
  • Comfortable earcup padding
  • Easy-to-use controls
Cons
  • Lacks Hi-Res audio

wired[5]

Reviewer score 83% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from wired have found:
The Arctis Prime's ear cups are very different but surprisingly similar to Apple's AirPods Max. The included audio cable feels janky, and holds kinks far too well. For the price, it's a remarkable gaming headset and easily outperforms pricier competitors.
Pros
  • Sleek, lightweight design
  • Great microphone quality
  • Comfortable fit
Cons
  • No braided audio cable
