Product Overview

Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6-inch is a flagship-level tablet powered by Huawei's proprietary Kiron 9000E mobile platform. It boasts a gorgeous OLED display with 90% screen-to-body ratio.
This OLED panel is able to cover 100% DCI-P3 color space and deliver 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. It is also certified by TUV Rheinland for its low blue light emission.
Another notable feature is the 6.7mm-thin chassis. It also packs 8 speakers that greatly increase the tablet's multimedia performance.
The MatePad Pro 12.6" is compatible with Huawei's 2nd-gen M-Pencil that supports 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and 20ms latency. The M-Pencil can attach to the tablet magnetically, which also provides wireless charging.
Last but not least, the MatePad Pro 12.6" has an industry-first tri-camera setup at the rear. Unlike its 10.8-inch sibling, the 12.6-inch MatePad Pro hides its 8MP selfie camera in its bezel, eliminating the punch hole.

External Reviews

androidauthority[1]

Reviewer score 57% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from androidauthority have found:
The Huawei MatePad Pro (2021) is one of the more capable non-Apple tablets around. With blazing-fast processing, a crisp vibrant display, and a decent stylus, the core package offers everything you'd want. Harmony OS 2 is decent too, if not exactly groundbreaking, and packs in useful additions to make it more productivity-friendly.
Pros
  • Stunning 120Hz display
  • Good battery life
  • Solid performance
Cons
  • Software is finicky
  • No S Pen or Air Actions

gsmarena[2]

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from gsmarena have found:
The Huawei MediaPad Pro 12.6 is shaping like a great launch platform for the global version of HarmonyOS. It has the hardware needed to demonstrate its full potential, but it's also a great multi-purpose tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is the closest competitor and alternative. Apple is the tablet king, so you should consider its iPad Pro models, too.
Pros
  • Great OLED screen with HDR10+
  • Excellent speakers
  • Great battery life
Cons
  • S-Pen magnet dock is uncomfortable
  • No third-party apps

notebookcheck[3]

Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from notebookcheck have found:
The MatePad Pro 12.6 delivers a strong performance, but cannot convince all around. Huawei's tablet has a high-quality build and is relatively light despite its XXL dimensions. The HDR10-compatible OLED display has few brightness reserves, but delivers rich contrasts and accurate colors. We also give a thumbs up for the fast and stable Wi-Fi 6, the powerful stereo sound from 8 speakers, and the good battery life.
Pros
  • High-quality build
  • Fast Wi-Fi 6
  • Good stereo speakers
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No Google services
  • Only 60 Hz display
  • No Google Play Store

t3[4]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from t3 have found:
The Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6 (2021) has a stunning 12.4inch display. It runs on Android but doesn't have Google services integrated. That means you can't get Google apps like Gmail or YouTube. It also limits you to using Huawei's own AppGallery which is nowhere near as comprehensive. With the keyboard connected and the new OS it feels like a laptop and acts like one too.
Pros
  • Gorgeous screen
  • Great battery life
  • Great performance
Cons
  • No Google apps
