LG SPD7Y is a midrange 3.1.1-channel soundbar with wireless subwoofer. A variant of the SP7Y, the SPD7Y differs in having a lower power output and omitting voice assistance; in fact, it is virtually indistinguishable from the SN7Y from 2020.

Like other 2021 LG soundbars that do not come with rear speakers, the SPD7Y can be complemented by LG's SPK8 wireless rear speakers to reproduce an authentic surround sound experience.

In terms of sound processing, the SPD7Y supports DTS:X on as well as Meridian Audio Technology.

Other soundbar in LG's 2021 lineup include the 3.1.2-channel SP8YA, the 5.1.2-channel SP9YA, and the range-topping 7.1.4-channel SP11RA.

The LG SPD7Y soundbar is good for dialogue-centric content like TV shows. Thanks to its discrete center channel, it can accurately localize voices to a pinpoint location. Its balanced mid-range can reproduce dialogue clearly, though it can also sound a bit muddy and dark. It supports Dolby Atmos content, using its two up-firing drivers to bounce sound off the ceiling to create the illusion of height.
